So no one updates this thing anymore, including me. In the past weeks, what has happened? We released two new songs - "Admit the Setback" and "Givers and Takers" last week via Purevolume and mySPACE, we launched the website, we played some shows, and I rekindled my love with the Rittenhouse Row Festival in Philadelphia.

Dan has finished his tracks. The final mixes have begun for some songs, while I still lag behind and need to finish the last of my tracks for some songs still. Later this week, we should be releasing album art and the track list for the new CD, "Day In, Day Out". Next weekend we'll be doing two shows at The Auction House on Friday and at Jamnesty on Saturday. Check the pages for more details. Thanks guys.

  So here's what's left...

Drums - none
Bass - one song
Guitars - two songs
Vocals - one song
Woodwinds - three songs
Keyboards - none

That's not bad at all. Like I said before today, we should be mixing two of the completed songs tomorrow and releasing them later this week via Purevolume and mySPACE, so frequently check back here for frequent updates.

So tonight we'll be trying to finish guitars and do more vocals and some keyboards. It should be eventful. We won Lenape Battle of the Bands. Thanks to Burnout, Code Red Society, Faithful Skeptics, and Silent Collision, who all were very awesome. Unfortunately, the recording for us got screwed up 'cause the direct box for the bass was on the wrong switch. Oh well. At least we won some sweet stuff.

We should be doing another session tomorrow, and then we'll finally be posting some new songs for you all. By the way, new website [this] Tuesday, April 26. Rock.

Ok, kids. So probably everyone is wondering what the new album is going to be called...or not. But anywho, we have come to a decision. The album will be called...drum roll...

Day In, Day Out

Oh yes, kids. It will be coming out Tuesday, 05.17.2005. It will have ten tracks of music for everyone. The song titles will be revealed very soon. We are working with our new website designer Jen Torres on creating the album art to go along with the concept behind the album.

We will most likely be releasing two of these ten tracks via Purevolume and mySPACE either next weekend (April 29/April 30/May 1) or the following weekend (May 6/May 7/May 8). We are very excited for this. I'm working on where we'll be getting the new shirts from at this point, and the CD will be available (along with Audible Thoughts) through our good buddies at MerchMall.com and ButtonShy.com.

So the song titles will be up within one week at most. If you're reading this, and your friend doesn't know about us, help by spreading the word, as we are trying to get as much exposure as we can. Below are all the upcoming shows:

04.22.05 / Lenape High School (235 Hartford Road, Medford, NJ 08055) with Faithful Skeptics, Code Red Society, Silent Collision, and Burnout. 7:30p, $3.00 (*BATTLE OF THE BANDS*)

05.07.05 / The Third Floor (111 West Second Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057) with Finding Opus, The Skautopsies, Middlecoast, October Glory, and more TBA. 7:00p, $5.00 (*BATTLE OF THE BANDS*)

05.13.05 / The Auction House (100 West Merchant Street, Audubon, NJ 08106) with Like Lions, The Fox, and A Breath Away. 7:00p, $5.00

05.14.05 / Jamnesty (5552 Marlton Pike, Pennsauken, NJ 08109) with Safe Haven, Allison Coulter, Failsafe, The Sessions, Futuro, and more TBA. 5:00p, $5.00

RELEASE SHOWS

05.20.05 / The Treehouse (690 Haddon Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108) with It's A King Thing, Allison Coulter, and Dan Cunha. 7:30p, $3.00

05.21.05 / TBA (TBA, TBA, NJ TBA) with Liam and Me, and more TBA. Time TBA, Admission TBA.

Obviously, the electric release show is not fully completed being set up, but our good friend Justin Collier, also known as The Patriot, will be running so there are no worries. But once again, all this will be updated. Keep checking back because we have no intention of slowing this production down. At this point, we will be speeding up until the release on May 17th.

It's been awhile since I wrote one of those tech entries. Yesterday, Dan recorded electric/acoustic guitar tracks for five of the tracks. Here is what Dan has been using:

Guitars - Ibanez AXS32 Electric guitar, LTD H-200 Electric guitar, Ovation Celebrity CC 026 Acoustic guitar.
Amps - Line 6 PODxt with Line 6 FBV Shortboard.
Amp Models - Line 6 Mood, Line 6 Spinal Puppet, Line 6 Chemical X, Hiwatt DR-103, Roland JC-120, Soldano SLO-100, and more.

The Acoustic guitar mic we've been using is a Neumann TLM-103, and it seems to be giving us a great sound, as it did on Audible Thoughts. Dan will be using his Ebow on some of the songs too. I also had mentioned before that the bass tracks had begun. They were finished on back on April 2, almost two weeks ago. Here's what I used:

Bass - Fender Hot-Rodded Precision Bass guitar.
Amp - Fender BassMan 60.

Via an XLR Line Out, I then went into a PreSonus DigiMax Preamp, then into the recording device, which is the Yamaha AW2816. It actually turned out to sound really great. Today, we'll be doing some guitars, and we'll then be starting vocals. Soon enough, we will start releasing more info on the album, like how many tracks, track names, album names, and so on. We should be releasing one or two of the songs in the last week of April to give everyone a preview. Keep checking back, cause then we won't be so lazy about writing in this thing.

No one has updated this in a long time. Don't worry. We didn't stop recording or anything. We've all been busy this week though. Dan's in Toronto. I've been working, playing music, from 9:00a to 3:00p, then 6:00p - 10:30p every night since Thursday. We'll update this more frequently. We promise. Keep checking back.

So the drum tracks have been finished. Guitar and bass tracks have begun. More detail when one of us feels like typing it. I think all we have to say at this point is Smores bars, Starburst jelly beans, and Slim Jims are so very good. Yeh...that's it. And Mike would probably add in peanut butter/chocolate chip cookies.

Tonight we loaded in the drums and got all the levels set for the tracks. Having a little extra time on our hands, Mike and I then watched a bit of Seinfeld and then began recording one of the new songs. As far as telling you (the reader) the names of the songs and what not, that information will not be released until probably late April. If you were lucky enough to catch one of our shows between February and March, maybe you remember one of the new songs that was played. Now for all you tech geeks, below is all of Mike's drum information:

Drums - Yamaha Recording Custom in Cherrywood Finish; 18" x 20" Bass drum; 8" x 8", 9" x 10", 10" x 12", 11" x 13", and 13" x 15" toms.
Snare - Orange County Drum and Percussion Maple (vented; 20 ply) 5.5" x 14", East Coast Percussion V.1. Maple 5" x 14", Yamaha Brass (with active snare system) 6.5" x 14"
Cymbals - Crashes: Zildjian A Custom 18" Crash, Zildjian A Custom 16" Projection Crash; Rides: Zildjian A Custom 20" Ride, Zildjian K Custom 20" Dark Ride; HiHats: Zildjian A Custom 13" HiHats; China: Paiste 2002 Classic Series 18" China

Obviously, Mike didn't use three snares and two rides at once. It will varied throughout the recording of every song. On the song recorded tonight, Mike used the East Coast Percussion V.1. Maple 5" x 14" snare and Zildjian A Custom 20" Ride. In case no one knows what East Coast Percussion is, don't worry. Mike built the snare himself with Justin Collier of Troubled Youth and they just named the 'company' that.

For the drum mics, here's what we used:

Shure PGDMK6 microphone (bass drum)
(Three) Shure PG56 microphones (snare, rack toms, floor toms)
(Two) Shure PG81 microphones (overheads)

So that's about it for today. I will most likely be recording my bass tracks for the songs as the drum tracks are completed. In some time, I'll post the recording devices we're using too, and the bass and guitar tech stuff. Any questions about anything? Don't hesitate to contact me at Sipio@redtuesdaynj.com or Lateralus0172@aol.com.

Today begins the recording of the new Red Tuesday album. We will be loading in drums tonight and getting all the levels set for the tracking process. This studio journal will keep you (the reader) up to date on everything from what we're eating to the tech details of the recordings. We all will be writing in it whenever we feel, whether we're in the studio or not. So this is the first entry before anything begins. I will be updating frequently with the tech details. Thanks for checking this out and get pumped for the new album, which is to be released in mid-May.
